Our handbook
The purpose of this document is to provide UDLA language teachers with a practical tool that could be used as a reference when planning their classes. It is a brief reminder of crucial ideas, tips, activities that can or have been used by the teachers mentioned in the credits.
Under the understanding that Language Teachers need to have solid foundations in the field of Applied Linguistics and a perfect command of the language they teach: It is important to say that this publication by no means tries to substitute the role of academic documents in which the practices described have been inspired. As all teaching practices, they have been enriched by each teacher’s interpretation and they are only a suggestion to novice teachers or experienced ones who are willing to review and enrich their own and the community’s repertoire.
It is our purpose to trigger curiosity and to motivate investigation within the language classroom, for it is inside it, that the juiciest fruits of the teaching profession are to be planted and harvested.
The present work has been conceived as a first edition to be enriched and reviewed after one year. This is the fruit of the first steps that UDLA language faculty has made in reflective teaching practice and the construction of our own syllabi, which should respond to the needs and goals of UDLA students.
